What is keratin?
Keratin is a protein that appears as a structural element in human and animal hair and is a classic example of a fiber protein. Human hair is mostly made up of keratin proteins. As hair is damaged, the keratin in your hair diminishes.
Therefore it is the essential component of hair, and gives the hair a shiny healthy look and strength. Basically, keratin is a family of proteins that are among the most important and versatile compounds ever produced in nature. Consider that your hair conytains 95% keratin. This means that naturally occurring keratin, needs to be incorporated into hair care products, in order for them to be effective in straightening your hair, make it more shinier and more healthy. The natural protein rebuilds, restores and rejuvenates all types of hair. No more bad hair days!
The Two types
There are two main types of keratin:
– Alpha-keratin, which is found in humans and other mammals; such as monkey’s, horses and wolves.
– Beta-keratin, which is found in birds and reptiles such as snakes and lizards.
It is the alpha version, which is used in Sunliss keratin treatments that achieve healthier, straighter and shinier hair. The protein is used to supplement the hair of its protein loss and ultimately create a smooth and shinny finish. A treatment also gives your hair a water repellent and anti-frizz finish, which allows your natural shine and style to be protected in all weather conditions.
